Junior Minor Division (Ages 8-9 & Age 7*)
Instructional division for player ages 8-9 (*EXCEPTION: Players league age 7 are permitted to advance to Junior Minor based on demonstrated ability. Junior Minors is an instructional level, operated under a competitive format.
The primary difference in Junior Minors and Minors is that Junior Minors is that coaches may be allowed on the field and provide skills development for players during the game, however WRLL encourages Coaches to only be on the field if absolutely necessary. There are no regular season standings. Any player missing tryouts who is of the player league age 9 will automatically be placed in Junior Minors. Minors may obtain injury/replacement players from Junior Minors during the season (refer to Roster Administration for further).
Special playing rules:
1. Junior Minors is designed to develop players for Minors. As such, players will pitch from a 46•foot mound. They will pitch to batters until a three-ball count is reached, the batter strikes out, or the ball is put in play. If a three-ball count is reached a coach or manager will step in and pitch to the batter until the ball is put in play.
2. A continuous batting order shall be used. However, the game is played with three outs per half inning. If three outs are reached prior to one cycle of the batting order, the batting team shall become the defensive team.
3. Players must be rotated to play both infield and outfield. Each player must play an infield and outfield position per game.
4. Games are two hours or six innings.
Rosters may be composed of between 9 and 12 players. The diamond used is a 60-foot diamond and the pitching distance is 46 feet.
Parents are strongly encouraged to become involved in this introduction level of Little League. After completing a Little League volunteer application and passing a required national background check, parents may become involved in practices, and be eligible as coaches, managers, umpires, local league board members and other volunteer positions within the league.
